Assistant Professor of Communications/Sports Journalism

Position Description:

Springfield College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Communications in our growing Communications/Sports Journalism program (Department of Humanities). The College is seeking candidates with both teaching and professional experience in the area of visual journalism, such as television, video, streaming, and documentary film. The candidate must work well in a team environment to help build a model of multimedia journalism within the curriculum and campus media. A strong commitment to equity, diversity, and student success is essential. Teaching responsibilities include three academic classes per semester, and advising the Springfield College TV club. Additional responsibilities include academic advising and service.

Position Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have an earned Master’s in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching. Additionally, it is strongly preferred that candidates have at least three years of professional media experience, and an ongoing commitment to staying active in professional journalism. Familiarity with sports journalism is a plus.
