Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Position Description:

Springfield College invites applications for an Assistant Professor for Exercise Science within the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment within the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation beginning August 2017. Expertise in the field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong commitment to scholarly and service activities are expected. Preference will be given to candidates who can bring diverse perspectives to this growing department and who are motivated to help students succeed.

Position Qualifications:

Interested candidates for this position will have an earned Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Exercise Science or related discipline. Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered depending on expected completion date. The ideal candidate will have the ability to deliver a wide variety of undergraduate applied exercise science course work. The applied exercise science major is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and recognized by the NSCA Education Recognition Program (ERP). In addition, the candidate will possess strong management and organizational skills to coordinate the Applied Exercise Science fieldwork. Strong technology skills, CPR/AED, First Aid certified, ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, and American Red Cross CPR First Aid Instructor are preferred. Additional responsibilities include internship and student research supervision, academic advising, and scholarly and service related activities.
